Path of Light

These two images are actually one picture.  Watercolor on yupo is fun and challenging. It is not easy to apply as much color as I would like to have in the painting, because of the nature of the yupo.  The goal is to create a path of light on the rocks; to be effective, the rocks and perhaps the water should be darker.  I like the rush and splash of the water.

Mother and Son Share Joy in Portrait

It’s fun to capture the joy in this portrait.  What can be better than enjoying a sunny day together?  This painting captures a wonderful memory!

Snow Leopard Painting

Here is the completed painting of a snow leopard, a magnificent animal.  I will make numbered giclee prints of this painting.  Perhaps the shop at the Como Zoo would like to sell prints of this painting.

New Year’s Goals

For  2012 my goal is to sketch daily, from real life when possible, or from T.V.  I want to focus mainly on people in sports or performing music.  Here is a sketch of various hockey players I did while watching the “Wild” on T.V.  They beat Edmonton 5 to 3.

Grandpa Fishing with Grandsons

Here is a completed painting.  I like the composition and story. My goal was to paint the figures to be less recognizable, portraying people of a general age, not specific individuals.  I wanted to create a path of light through the painting, to direct your eyes, and focus more on shapes and values.

Christmas 2011

Celebrating the wonderous gift of God’s Son, who came to live among us, righteous, obedient, loving, teaching, healing, our Savior.  Jesus came not to condemn us, but to save us.  He came to reconcile us to God our Father. This is the greatest gift.

Fishing With Grandpa

Here is the sketch for the design for a painting.  I like paintings to tell a story, and perhaps make you smile.  Can you see the story in the painting?  I’d like your comments.

Thinking of Our Service Men and Women

Thinking of those service men and women who are unable to be home for Christmas.  Here is a sketch I made of a serviceman napping in the airport.  I am thankful for the Christmas gift of God’s son.  I am also thankful for those who serve our country.  God bless our families near and far.
