These abstracts are a challenge… more to come later.  I love the bright colors!

I’m taking a class in watercolor in which you paint an abstract as a base, then a portrait over it.  I’ll post the result.

The Northstar Watercolor Society members peer vote awarded second place in the Intermediate class to the painting of the baby boy, at the monthly meeting last night.

Here’s the final painting of the baby boy.  His personality is beautifully expressed in the portrait.  He is so friendly; he breaks into a big smile when anyone talks to him.  I smile whenever I look at his picture!

Two women kindly allowed me to photograph them using sign language.  This will be my next portrait.

I think this painting of Caleb may be finished.  His portrait captures his friendly personality… I can’t help smiling when I look at it!  I will bring it to my painting group for comments and suggestions.  It’s always good to wait when … Continue reading →

This is the beginning of the portrait.  This child is so personable, just a joy to paint.  The goal is to feature the child’s friendly personality.  I will upload the painting as it progresses.

Tomorrow I start the portrait of the baby boy, Caleb.  Progress on the watercolor portrait will be posted on this site.  Caleb has lots of personality, and will be fun to paint!
